Excerpts from Sequential Studies for Four-Mallet Marimba

Each lesson fits on two pages that are easily readable on a music stand thanks to a coil binding.  The intent of each lesson is to work on one or two strokes types with various types of motion (static, stepwise, small jumps, parallel, mirror or contrary, and overlapping).  Eventually stroke types are mixed between the hands.  The first ten lessons only include the lower manual.  Lessons 11-20 incorporate the upper manual with a discussion prior to "Part 2" about how to move the body appropriately when dealing with the "black" notes.  Progress Charts are at the end of every lesson for students to track their metronome marking successes.  Take a look at a few of the lesson layouts below.
